Biography
I have had the great fortune to practice my profession in outstanding schools in both the USA and Europe. My 26 years of experience in private school leadership was gained in three highly regarded international schools. Seven years as the Head of School at the German American International School in Menlo Park, California followed nineteen years as the Director of the International School of Trieste and the Udine International School, both in northern Italy. Prior to my positions as Head of School, I taught High School math and physical education, Middle School math, social studies, language arts and physical education, and Elementary School Grades Four and Five.
Growing up in Toronto, Canada gave me access to an outstanding education in the Ontario school system. My father’s employment with an American multinational company resulted in a transfer to Germany and the completion of High School at the Karlsruhe American High School (DODS). I gained my Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Waterloo in Ontario and my Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Western Ontario. My post-graduate studies were at Worcester State College in Massachusetts where I completed a Master of Education degree.
Besides travel and food I have a passion for art, music, culture, and soccer. I am fluent in German and Italian and love to play the guitar and saxophone. The Bay area has been my home for the past seven years and as Head of The Saklan School I look forward to many more. I am honored to have been chosen for this position and greatly look forward to working with the wonderful community at Saklan.
