Extended Day
What distinguishes Saklan Valley School' s Extended Day program from other programs of its kind is the family like environment and quality of care given to the children who attend. We offer both Early Childhood and School Age programs for children ages 3 to 12. We are a state licensed facility that is available to only Saklan Valley School students. Children may attend either on a part time or full time basis. Our maximum student/teacher ratio is 12:1 in the Early Childhood program and 14:1 in our School Age program.
The Extended Day program incorporates both structured activity and free play.
Some of the activities included in the school age program are homework club, sports, and arts and crafts. In the Early Childhood program activities include art, music and movement, story time, and games.
In addition to our Extended Day program, we also offer various Enrichment Classes such as Gymnastics, Chess, Art, Cooking, Adventures and Science. These classes are offered for an additional fee paid directly to the independent instructor. Extended Day fees do not apply during Enrichment instruction.
Staff
The Extended Day director and staff are highly qualified and carefully chosen in keeping with California Child Care Licensing laws. Most of our teachers have Associate Arts and/or Bachelor's degrees as well as training and experience in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, and/or Recreation.
Hours
Enrollment
Children may enroll for full-time monthly, part-time monthly, or drop-in extended care. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance for drop-in care, based on availability. The drop-in rate is $7.50 per hour.
Security
Children with the Early Childhood Program must be signed in and out on the child care roster. In addition, we ask that emergency cards be kept up-to-date with current phone numbers of parents or guardians and lists of persons authorized to pick up your child. A note or call is necessary if someone other than the customary person is to pick up your child. Anyone unknown to us will be asked for a picture identification. A staff member must be told when you take your child from school.

Two program information boards in the Extended Day Foyer (Early Childhood and School Age) offer details regarding our program. A weekly school newsletter also contains information pertaining to the Extended Day program.
