FRiday Note - December-11-2009
Head's Corner
Dear Saklan Community:
I just returned to my office after witnessing a wonderful ECE concert. The children were amazing; cute, poised, endearing, talented, adorable, and well prepared. They did an excellent job singing in three languages; English, Spanish, and Mandarin. Many thanks and kudos go to Grace Chaffey (music), Lori Castillo (Spanish), and Beatrice Tao (Mandarin).
The Kindergarten hosted its annual Art Show today. The classroom looked like an art gallery with student work mounted and displayed in every available space. The show was sold-out by 9:30. All proceeds go to the Nicholas Colby Fund for children with cancer. It was a great event.

On Monday, the Pavilion area where the students have art class and eat lunch will have heat. This weekend Javier and friend (licensed electrician) are installing two electric heaters with enough “power” to cover the entire area. The heaters will be hung from the ceiling, out of range of curious students.
Mrs. Chaffey will be appearing in play “Scrooge” at the Town Hall Theater in Lafayette on weekends from December 3rd through December 20th. This musical re-telling of the Christmas classic about the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge draws on the humor of Charles Dickens' Victorian classic, A Christmas Carol. Leslie Bricusse recasts the tale of Scrooge as a fanciful, spooky and charming musical that brings to life the Christmas spirit of wonderment for all ages. Grace Chaffey appears as Isabel.
Have a wonderful weekend-

the second annual Kindergarten Art Gallery Opening
The second annual Kindergarten Art Gallery Opening benefits the Nicholas Colby Fund on Friday, December 11th, 2009 directly following flag. The Nicholas Colby Fund is a nonprofit organization that works with children who have been diagnosed with cancer. “The Nicholas Colby Fund’s accomplishments continue Nicholas Colby Gilbert’s legacy of love, hope, trust, caring, giving, sharing- an inspiration of love begetting love!” Kindergarten is based on the idea that love and kindness are the two most important things in this world. In kindergarten we choose to be the change we wish to see in the world. Art is the pathway. Imagination is the key. We can see beyond where we are and into places never even thought of yet.
All of the artwork is for sale and all of the profits will go directly to the Nicholas Colby Fund. All of your purchases and/or donations are tax-deductible:
Nicholas Colby Fund
547 Palos Verdes Mall, PMB 260
Walnut Creek, CA 94597-2228
Tax Exempt #20-3201303
With the money we raise we will take a special field trip to a toy store (Games Unlimited in Danville) to purchase all sorts of games, stuffed animals, puzzles, books, and such to fill up the backpacks the Fund puts together for the children to take with them into the hospital for treatments and stays.
You will be amazed at what an open mind, an open heart, and a willingness to help in this world does. It is phenomenal. Please share in the magic.
