Dear Saklan Community:

Just a quick reminder that Wednesday is a noon dismissal for Professional Development. The teachers and I will be putting the final touches on the CAIS/WASC Self-Evaluation report. Extended Day will be available.

As we are closing in on Winter Vacation, I include below a brief calendar of school events and activities.

The Peter Pan Foundation is presenting this year’s original holiday show:
“‘T’was the Opening Night Before Christmas” on Saturday, December 19 (1:00 p.m. (junior cast) and 7:00 p.m.) and on Sunday, December 20 (1:00 p.m. (junior cast) and 7:00 p.m.) at San Ramon Valley High School, in Danville (501 Danville Blvd, Danville, CA).

This holiday musical, directed by Lafayette native, Leslie Noel, is great entertainment for the whole family.

The Peter Pan Foundation is a non-profit organization made up of local performers ages 10 to 25 – kids dedicated to helping other kids –with proceeds donated to Childrens’ Hospital Oakland and other local charities.

Tickets are $20 for adults; $10 for youth 18 and under.

the second annual Kindergarten Art Gallery Opening

You are all cordially invited to the second annual Kindergarten Art Gallery Opening to benefit the Nicholas Colby Fund on Friday, December 11th, 2009 directly following flag. The Nicholas Colby Fund is a nonprofit organization that works with children who have been diagnosed with cancer. “The Nicholas Colby Fund’s accomplishments continue Nicholas Colby Gilbert’s legacy of love, hope, trust, caring, giving, sharing- an inspiration of love begetting love!” Kindergarten is based on the idea that love and kindness are the two most important things in this world. In kindergarten we choose to be the change we wish to see in the world. Art is the pathway. Imagination is the key. We can see beyond where we are and into places never even thought of yet.

Each artist will have eight framed pieces in the show done in various mediums. All of the artwork is for sale and all of the profits will go directly to the Nicholas Colby Fund. All of your purchases and/or donations are tax-deductible:

With the money we raise we will take a special field trip to a toy store (Games Unlimited in Danville) to purchase all sorts of games, stuffed animals, puzzles, books, and such to fill up the backpacks the Fund puts together for the children to take with them into the hospital for treatments and stays.

Please come and see their extraordinary artwork. You will be amazed at what an open mind, an open heart, and a willingness to help in this world does. It is phenomenal. Please come share in the magic.

FINANCIAL AID

Click here to download the Financial Aid forms or email dparish@saklan.org to request a set be mailed to you . You may also log onto http://sss.nais.org to start completing the required PFS. January 14, 2010 is the deadline to submit your FA application to the School.

KINDERGARTEN 2010-11

Current Pre-K parents who are interested in having their child evaluated for Kindergarten, please submit this form to your teacher or the Admissions office by December 16, 2009.
