FRiday Note - FEbRuary-11-2010
Head's Corner
Dear Saklan Parents:
I had the pleasure of joining the fifth grade at Marin Headlands the last several days. My job was afternoon and night duty. While sleep was elusive, I came away impressed (again) with our students. Their energy, enthusiasm, and joie de vivre are contagious. They worked hard and played hard. They were attentive, engaged, and well behaved. I am also impressed with the two teachers, Mrs. Reichow and Ms. Obenchain. Their rapport and patience with the kids were remarkable.
We are approaching an extremely busy part of the year. Below please find an outline of dates and events that are fast approaching.

Yearbook Dedications
The Yearbook Committee is busy working on the Saklan Valley Yearbook for 2009/2010. We are offering parents, grandparents, children, businesses, and friends the opportunity to place special personalized notes in the yearbook. You may write, type, or computer generate the dedications. Special pictures, drawings, and notes are all accepted. They just need to fit within the space purchased. We have posted dedications from previous years on the breezeway bulletin-board to give you some ideas.
GUIDELINES:
* Be sure to include who the dedication is to and from
* Use BLACK INK only - A fine line marker works best
* You can email them, put them on a disk, or attach picture/s to a sheet of paper.
* No tape or sticky tack
* Stay within the lines
* Be creative and have fun!
DEADLINE: Monday, March 1st
Submit your dedications to the school office with payment or if sending by email, please send to KBeaubelle@gmail.com and drop payment to Emoke.

Auction Update
Dear Saklan Families:
California Dreaming...on such a winter's day!
Well that is what all our east coast friends are saying...yes, they are jealous of the fact that we get to drive to our weather.
Since you are not snowed in this weekend, your Auction Chairs have a list of things you can do:
> Drive to the snow and ski or snowboard. While you are there, consider securing lift tickets, hotel stays and ski/snowboard gear to donate to the Auction.
> Take a walk to your mailbox this weekend and you will find your very own invitation to our upcoming party and Auction.
> Enjoy date night with your partner and ask your favorite romantic spot to donate a dinner, massage, spa treatment or overnight stay to Saklan.
> Fill out your RSVP card and return to Emoke in the office first thing Tuesday morning.
> Read our blog on the Auction website (look for the surfer dude on the Saklan main page).
> Email Kate at kate@deynet.com to volunteer to help out before or during the event (a few hours makes you part of the A-Team and gives you our endless gratitude).
> Complete those donation forms and turn them in to the front office. We are writing up the catalog and need the forms in as soon as possible.
> Enjoy your time away from school, smile often, laugh loudly and keep on dreaming...
> Say hi to us on the Auction blog to let us know you were there.
Warmest regards,
Kate Dey & Carol Goldman

GRANDPARENTS' DAY
Grandparents' Day 2010 is just around the corner - Wednesday, March 17th - and we are in the midst of planning a wonderful day of activities. We can't wait to share the details with you, but first we need your help to make this day a special treat for everyone! We would like to encourage all students to invite someone special to share this experience with them; a Grandparent, relative, neighbor, babysitter, family friend, or even yourself.
Here's what you can do to help:
- Go into RenWeb ParentsWeb and review/edit/update your grandparent information. You will find this under Web Forms, Family Demographics.
- If you would like to invite a special friend to share this day with your child/ren, please reply to Emoke Veres with their name, address and relation to the student.
You can email Emoke directly at everes@saklan.org
